hen I was in college, Taco Tuesdays were the highlight of the week. My roommates and I would take turns whipping up our best creations. One day, I decided to try something different—a spicy shrimp taco with a zesty lime crema—and it became a fast favorite. Now, I’m sharing this recipe with you, so you can bring that same bold, zesty flavor to your own table.
Spicy Shrimp Tacos with Lime Crema
Ingredients
1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
1 tsp chili powder
1/2 tsp smoked paprika
1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
1 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 tbsp olive oil
8 small tortillas
2 cups shredded cabbage
1 ripe avocado, sliced
For the Lime Crema: 1/2 cup sour cream
Zest and juice of 1 lime
1 tbsp chopped fresh cilantro
Pinch of salt
Directions
In a bowl, combine chili powder, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, and salt. Toss the shrimp in the seasoning mix until evenly coated.
Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and add olive oil. Cook the shrimp for 2-3 minutes per side until pink and slightly charred. Remove from heat.
In a small bowl, whisk together sour cream, lime zest, lime juice, cilantro, and a pinch of salt to make the lime crema.
Warm the tortillas in a dry skillet or microwave.
Assemble the tacos: Start with a layer of shredded cabbage, top with spicy shrimp, add a slice of avocado, and drizzle with lime crema.
Serve immediately and enjoy the burst of flavors!
