1 package instant chocolate pudding mix 
2 cups cold milk 
1 container whipped topping (e.g., Cool Whip)

Directions
Prepare the Cake Base:
Bake the chocolate cake according to the package instructions. Allow it to cool completely.
Once cooled, crumble the cake into small pieces.
Prepare the Pudding:
Whisk the instant chocolate pudding mix with cold milk until thickened. Chill in the refrigerator for 5–10 minutes.
Layer the Dessert:
In a large trifle bowl or individual serving glasses, layer the dessert as follows:
A layer of crumbled chocolate cake.
A layer of cherry pie filling.
A layer of chocolate pudding.
A layer of whipped topping.
Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with whipped topping on top.
Garnish and Serve:
Sprinkle the top with shaved chocolate or chocolate chips for a decorative finish.
Chill the dessert for at least 1 hour before serving to allow the flavors to meld together.
